Galerkin Finite Element Approximations for Stochastic Space-Time Fractional Wave Equations

چکیده
Abstract. The traditional wave equation models wave propagation in an ideal conducting medium. For characterizing the wave propagation in inhomogeneous media with frequency dependent power-law attenuation, the spacetime fractional wave equation appears; further incorporating the additive white Gaussian noise coming from many natural sources leads to the stochastic spacetime fractional wave equation. This paper discusses the Galerkin finite element approximations for the stochastic space-time fractional wave equation forced by an additive space-time white noise. We firstly discretize the space-time additive noise, which introduces a modeling error and results in a regularized stochastic space-time fractional wave equation; then the regularity of the regularized equation is analyzed. For the discretization in space, the finite element approximation is used and the definition of the discrete fractional Laplacian is introduced. We derive the mean-squared L-norm priori estimates for the modeling error and for the approximation error to the solution of the regularized problem; and the numerical experiments are performed to confirm the estimates. For the time-stepping, we calculate the analytically obtained Mittag-Leffler type function.

Numerical approximation of nonlinear fractional differential equations with subdiffusion and superdiffusion
In this paper, we study the time–space fractional order (fractional for simplicity) nonlinear subdiffusion and superdiffusion equations, which can relate the matter flux vector to concentration gradient in the general sense, describing, for example, the phenomena of anomalous diffusion, fractional Brownian motion, and so on. The semi-discrete and fully discrete numerical approximations are both...

This paper deals with a high-order accurate Runge Kutta Discontinuous Galerkin (RKDG) method for the numerical solution of the wave equation, which is one of the simple case of a linear hyperbolic partial differential equation. Nodal DG method is used for a finite element space discretization in ‘x’ by discontinuous approximations. This method combines mainly two key ideas which are based on th...

We establish the well-posedness of an hp-version time-stepping discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method for the numerical solution of fractional super-diffusion evolution problems. In particular, we prove the existence and uniqueness of approximate solutions for generic hp-version finite element spaces featuring non-uniform time-steps and variable approximation degrees. We then derive new hp-version ...

In this article, a posteriori error analysis for mixed finite element Galerkin approximations of second order linear hyperbolic equations is discussed. Based on mixed elliptic reconstructions and an integration tool, which is a variation of Baker’s technique introduced earlier by G. Baker (SIAM J. Numer. متن کاملSolving nonlinear space-time fractional differential equations via ansatz method
In this paper, the fractional partial differential equations are defined by modified Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative. With the help of fractional derivative and fractional complex transform, these equations can be converted into the nonlinear ordinary differential equations. By using solitay wave ansatz method, we find exact analytical solutions of the space-time fractional Zakharov Kuz...
